TOP 3 Sketch no.22

Hello Everyone

Thanks soooo much to everyone who played along with the last challenge! We really had such beautiful projects that it was really hard to choose just 3! So please, don't be discouraged if we did not pick your project in the TOP 3 here, it was not easy!

But before we get to that, let's see who won our random goodies.

Next up is 5. Ronazita , well done on this fabulous page. We loved the fresh colouring and your fresh styling, along with your doodling! It is just gorgeous and fun! Stunning page!

Challenge no.22 - Resisting

Hello Everyone

We hope that your week has started off well! We have a really cool and exciting challenge today and it is hosted my the amazingly talented Elena Smoktunova.

The challenge today is all about resisting, whether you use embossing, crayons, glue, gesso or any medium that resists paint, inks etc.

We have a super Guest Designer today, who was a previous TOP 3, Ade.

She created an amazing page for us, as well as showed us how she created the page.

And finally the finished page.

Thanks so much Ade, for creating a gorgeous gesso resist page! The stamping and detailing are just wonderful! We love this mixed media page and your kitty photo's are precious too! ;-)

As always, we also have the DT to inspire you, and as always, they have not disappointed! Check out these amazing resist projects.

First, we make the prints, then bake, then sprinkle sprays to get the interesting resist effect.

Ada

On this layout I did resist stamping using household Vaseline. I stamped waited for 5 minutes. I then blended with distress stain. Then used a paper towel to wipe over the stamped area to reveal the image.

My resist technique was a crayon and mists, to created my scallop border.

I used two different resist techniques: a modeling paste/gesso resist with a Prima checkerboard mask, and on my Molossi chipboard butterfly I used a gorgeous Visible Image script stamp with white embossing powder and did an emboss resist technique, coloring the butterfly with Peacock Feather and Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I used pearlescent embossing powder to create my resisted stamping.

Elizna

I stamped the image on smooth white cardstock using clear embossing ink.

I sprinkled American Crafts Zing clear embossing powder over the wet ink and heat set the embossing powder. I then used Ranger distress ink to colour the background and added a few sprinkles of water to the background to make the little white dots...

Jowilna

I used Wood glue as a resist. Stamp script image onto plain white card stock. Add a small amount of wood glue to plain smooth white card stock and spread it out using an old credit card. Leave some area of the card stock clear with no glue on it. Leave the glue to dry really well and then ink using different colours of Distress ink. Wipe the glue clean and use as a background.

I used a Bazzill resist paper and then blended PanPastels onto the background and played around with texture paste and inks.

I used Clear Embossing Powder as a resist on the flourish, sprayed my first colour of mist. I did the scribbles with my hot glue gun and sprayed my second layer of mist...On the tags and pocket I used bubble wrap covered with Pritt gluestick. Once it was completely dry, I sprayed my colour mists...

New DT Member - Val Thorpe

Hi Everyone

I have some really exciting news, we have a new DT member! She is really a very talented and creative lady! A warm welcome to Val Thorpe! ;-)

Hi my name is Val and I am a scrap-a-holic. I have been married to Simon for 37 years and we have two kids, Clint and Storm, a DIL Lin who is expecting twins in Feb, four very spoilt yorkies and a beautiful cat called Hansa. I am lucky enough not to have to work and to have a very well kitted out studio. I get to travel a lot and photography is my other passion and so I always have loads of material to scrap. My passion with scrapbooking is the journalling (newly discovered) and now I am going back through my layouts to add the stories.

I am on the DT at Once Upon a Sketch, CSI, Let's Scrap and Black with 2. I am also addicted to challenges. I like the fact that they challenge me to think outside the box and to try things that ordinarily I may not have... I have a blog Val-Belles Ramblings and you can also find me on Facebook Valerie Ann Thorpe so come and look me up and say hello.

A Welcome and some Goodbyes

Hello Everyone

We have had a few DT members leave us, and so I just wanted to say thanks so much to Julie Tucker-Wolek, Maryia Potapovich and Ludmila Kodymskaya and Kasia Grzegorzewska. We have loved your work and you will be missed!

However, I also have a warm welcome to make to our new DT member, and that is Cathi O'Neill. She is a super, talented lady and it's so great that she has joined us here at Scrap Africa! ;-)

Here's what Cathi has to say about herself.

 My name is Cathi O'Neill, and I am an American who married an Irishman and I have been living in Ireland since 1997. I live in a beautiful village on the Shannon River with my DH of 18 years (wow, that makes me feel old!) and my two beautiful daughters, Aine (onya) 10 and Aisling (ashling) 9 who are the subject of many of my projects!!

I have always love crafting since I was a little girl. My grandmother taught me to knit and crochet and I remember sewing Barbie doll clothes with her on her front porch! I am a knitter and quilter as well, but have recently in the last two years found cardmaking and scrapbooking, and an obsession was born!! I truly love creating and make vintage cards to sell here in our local village cafe as well as stacks of mixed media and shabby/vintage style layouts of my girls to keep and share with family! I also love to do tags, ATC and altered projects, barely a day goes by when I haven't done something crafty!!

I am currently on the design teams for several manufacturers: Couture Creations, Molossi Chipboard, Paper Wings Productions, Tresors de Luxe Etsy Lace Shop, Visible Image stamps and Paper Temptress specialty cardstock store. I also design for challenge blogs Frosted Designs and Sugar Creek Hollow, and have guest designed for challenge blogs Keeping the Best and Scrap it with a Song, C'est Magnifique Kit Club, Scraps of Elegance Kit Club and Crop Stop online store. I truly enjoy the challenge and inspiration that scrapbooking and cardmaking bring me.

Hello Everyone

Can you believe it, it's the 01st October!! Where has this year gone? The time is certainly flying and before you know it, Advent will be upon us.

We have a super sketch for this challenge, and is a real goodie from Page Maps. We thought we would throw in a fresh and modern sketch and see what you all come up with.
