Challenge no.28 - Distressing with a Difference

Hello Everyone

We are back with a new challenge today and it is all about Distressing with a Difference.
The distressing needs to have been done with household items and you need to tell us what you used in your blog post.

There are many ways of distressing with household items and here are some examples:

  • Using bleach to colour or stamp
  • Vaseline for embossing or stamping
  • Coffee for stamping and colouring
  • Tea for stamping or colouring
  • Distressing the edges with a cheese grater
  • Burning the edges for an aged look
  • Sanding the edges with sandpaper
So we really hope you will put your creative hats on and play along with our challenge! ;-)

Ada Nichols is the host for this challenge and here are the gorgeous tags she created.
She tells us a little bit about how she created the tags and will post more details on her blog.

On these tags I used Ranger Distress ink and then I stamped on them using household bleach.

These certainly came out beautifully and I love that technique too!

The Design Team has created some wonderful projects, to also give you some ideas and inspiration for this challenge. Please pop on over to their blogs for more details on their projects.

The distressing was achieved via sticky tape, distress inks and embossing powder.

I used bleach to alter the colouring on my background.

Distressing on the key hole was achieved using Q-tips.

Distressing using salt and clear glue

Using tea (background & flowers) & the reverse side of a cheese grater with a stylus for a fine texture (difficult to see in this photo).

Distressing using masking tape, cardboard box, tea on flowers and muslin, and all paper edges distressed using scissors.
