We are really excited to bring you today's challenge. We really hope you are going to enjoy it, as much as we have! Today's challenge is about CARDSTOCK ONLY.
The host is Patricia Basson and her challenge to you is this:
Use only plain card stock, NO patterned papers. But you are asked to use at least 3 colours of card stock or more if you want to...and these you can alter by stamping or embossing, whatever way you want to.
For this challenge, we have an exceptional creator and I am sure that many of you will know her and also recognise her signature style. Our VERY special guest designer this month, is the super Heather Jacob.
Hi there, my name
is HEATHER JACOB.
Firstly I am so
honoured and delighted to be guest designing here at Scrap Africa.
Thank you so much
Denise for inviting me .
Now a little about
me, I am happily married to my wonderful, supportive “soul mate” Baden and my
Family feature throughout my work and there is nothing more important to me
than my family. To me this craft is the perfect combination of art,
photography, beautiful paper, and glorious words.
I especially love
to choose some elements, cast a spell and see what happens, to create a dream
and follow it through. Subtle shadows, light and color are all ingredients for
casting the spell. I am in harmony with my garden and its inhabitants, connecting
with the beauty that surrounds me. For me it is all-consuming, inspiring and a
natural expression of my inner self, which I love to weave into my works.
I am inspired by
colour and texture … I love to include stitching, chipboard, journaling,
muslin, fabrics, metal elements, inking, masking and texture paste. Off the
page projects and altered art are a fave of mine. I see my style as “CLASSIC”
with layering and attention to detail…I tend to lean toward monochromatic
themes with a little shabby chic/grunge thrown in .. I feel very lucky to be on
a number of design teams and I have work published in Scrapbooking Memories,
Scrapbook Creations, Australian Scrapbook Ideas.
Warm hugz from

Layer
these and add diecut leaves, “cottage Cutz/foliage”, flowers, add some bling

Use
a mask on white background, Versa color / Celaton, and Atlantic.

We have some more guest designers for inspiration, one being a lady who also applied for the DT.
Amber van Niekerk - isn't this a beautiful interpretation of the challenge?!
Amber printed a photo on 2 of 12 x 12 white cardstock & the matting of other photos on cardstock. Some flowers & stamping were used to finish off the layout.
Tone K. won a previous challenge and she created this amazing layout for us as well.
The details on Tone's page are just so super!
Tone used these supplies:
- white and grey bazzill
- flip notes from (Pink Paislee - the orange one)
- stencil from The Crafters Workshop + Dylusion
- doily
- viewmaster
- bingocard from an old game
- washitape + tape from 7 Gypsies + Tissue tape from Tim Holtz
- stamp from Studio Calico
- wood details from Studio Calico (stars, word and camera)
- letters are thickers + Adornit
- punch from EK Success
- dylusion spray to make the splashes
Thanks ever so much to Heather, Amber and Tone for your beautiful projects!
Okay, we certainly have lots more inspiration for you and the DT have so enjoyed creating for this challenge! We really did have fun! So here is what we created.
To create my page I started with a white piece of cardstock then I added texture paste and Glimmermists. I then preceded to stamp all over it. My yellow matt has also been stamped on. I have cut my title out of cardstock as well. All the flowers are made from cardstock along with the other embellies. The only things added that are not cardstock are the split pins and some bling.
Channa
For my page i used 4 colors of cardstock. I made a kind of Graffiti wall on the grey piece with modeling paste and a stamp. After i added the red piece with a mask misted on it and for the black and red piece i made a border with a punch and gesso. The flowers and bicycles are also from the same cardstock. Items non cardstock added are the buttons, roses, cord and chipboard letters.

I used 4 different variations of purple cardstock, and then distressed the edges and cut to various sizes. I used gesso and stamping for depth and texture.
Paste texture was used and applied with a stencil to the cardstock and embossing added, stamps and sprays. Cardstock colors: blue, gray, white, and added butterflies.
I used dark brown, pink and light grey cardstock for this layout.
I spritzed the grey cardstock with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist {pink bubblegum}
and Perfect Pearls Mist {heirloom gold}.
The pink tag and doily border I inked with Ranger Distress Ink.

Here is what I did to create the look on my layout --- I took 3 pieces of Core-dinationsTim Holtz card stock ... and I stamped around all their edges -- then I took some Tim Holtz Distress inks and inked the edges over my stamping :)

I used white, pink and brown cardstock. The white was coloured using Mister Huey inks and then cuttle bugged using ink.

I have used a light blue green cardstock for the main section of my card which was inked with Weathered Wood distress ink after the embossed image had been added. It was then layered on another piece of light blue green cardstock before being added to a slightly darker blue green cardstock base. I have used the same darker blue green cardstock to add a diecut flourish to my floral cluster and a yellow cardstock for my diecut butterfly.
I used aqua cardstock for the background. Stenciled gesso circles and then splattered some brown glimmer mist. I then used white embossed cardstock matted on brown cardstock for the photo mount. I punched borders from five different coloured cardstock and layered them at the bottom. The sun and "kisses" is also cut from cardstock.
I have used a white cardstock background and cut the 'cross word' overlay from black cardstock using my Silhouette machine. I've also used 2 shades of orange cardstock to back my photo.
I used a green card stock as my base. My background is a light cream card stock that was misted with Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade Mists and stencilled with coloured gesso. I embossed the tan card stock in an inked embossing folder. The green strip was stamped and embossed with Ivory Embossing Enamel. I used white card stock for the Die cuts. The concertina flowers are made with a cream card stock that was stamped with green ink....
I used green cardstock for the base as well as white grey and brown cardstock on my layout. I stamped stars and misted some black Studio Calico Mr Huey's on the background.
I used all the primary colours as well as white for the base of my layout. I embossed some of the elements and sanded them to make them stand out a little bit more. I distressed the edges of my photo mats and used my sewing machine for some stitching!
We really hope that we have inspired you and that your creative juices are flowing!
